WHAT IS WINTER? WINTER SPORTS COMPETITIONS!

7 FEBRUARY 2024
What is winter? Winter sports competitions!

Dear friends!

Starting February 7, the official wintersports month events will take place at Bukovel. The resort's infrastructure is prepped and ready to welcome the country's best skiers and boarders, both fresh blood and seasoned professionals. We are proud to contribute to the upbringing of future champions and provide our humble support to the national wintersports movement!

The Carpathian slopes will host a series of Ukrainian championships in various age categories, as well and FIS-supported international events in alpine skiing, freestyle and snowboarding. With one of the main intrigues of the season being the Ukrainian Alpine Skiing Youth Championship, we simply can't wait to see younger riders compete for the national team slots and the right to represent the country at international events.

Since 2019, Bukovel has successfuly hosted the Ukrainian Open Snowboarding Championship, one of the major events at the resort during winter seasons, featuring our best snowboarders, including the renowned vice-champion Annamarie Dancha, and the rising star Mykhailo Haruk. The current season will also mark the debut of the championship's new discipline – snowboardcross.

Freestyle athletes from all over the country will compete in a variety of Olympic disciplines: mogul, parallel mogul, ski acrobatics, slopestyle and big-air. We are still under the impression of the recent years' historic results in ski acrobatics, particularly Oleksandr Abramenko dominating at Winter Olympics in 2018 and 2022, Anastasia Novosad's bronze, as well as the 3rd place won by the Ukrainian team at the 2023 World Championship, World Cup breakthroughs by Dmytro Kotovskyi, Nadiia Mokhnatska and all those remarkable results at the European Cup. This year, our national team leaders, Kateryna Kotsar and Orest Kovalenko, are scheduled to participate in park-and-pipe disciplines – slopestyle and big-air.

Since 2006, Bukovel has hosted a series of domestic and international events held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Skiing Federation: FIS Nation Cups, stages of the European Snowboarding Cup in parallel disciplines and big-air, stages of the European Cup and the World Cup Finals in freestyle skiing. As always, slopes preparation and overall safety of the events are the nuances to which our special attention is devoted.

The competition marathon will last until March 5. For an entire month, the guests of Bukovel will celebrate wintersports and be treated to spectacular performances of our athletes. Therefore, we invite all the enjoyers to fan zones on the respective slopes!
